What is ruderalis and its features

What is ruderalis and its features

Most of you have probably heard of sativa and indika are the two main types of marijuana. However, did you know that there is a third type called Cannabis Ruderalis?

This sub-strain of cannabis is very durable, and the term ruderalis comes from the phrase - "capable of surviving in extreme conditions." Some experts say that Ruderalis is the ancestor of the Indica, able to adapt and grow anywhere. Cannabis Ruderalis can be found in Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, and some CIS countries.

Ruderalis blooms 90-110 days after sowing, making it one of the fastest growing marijuana strains. Recently, however, breeders have begun using ruderalis to create indoor cannabis hybrids. This type is ideal for growing outdoors because the plant is small, only 40 to 100 cm tall, but still very productive.

External characteristics of the Ruderalis variety

Its stems are very thick and strong. Moreover, unlike most other types of marijuana, the Ruderalis variety automatically enters the flowering phase. The vegetation phase can last from 21 to 30 days.

Ruderalis plants look different from other types of cannabis. Sativa and Indica leaves have nine and seven dots, respectively, and look like a typical cannabis leaf. Ruderalis leaves, on the other hand, have three main tips and two very small and slightly lighter tips than indica. The plants themselves are more compact, with thick strong stems and few flowers.

Indica and Sativa plants must go through a photoperiod phase before they can flower. Ruderalis hybrid seeds automatically go into flowering mode and are completely independent of light cycles. That is why they are often called autoflowering plants.

THC levels in ruderalis

The downside to natural ruderalis is the fact that it's quite low in THC, especially when compared to indica and sativa strains. Experts crossed Ruderalis with other marijuana strains to create auto strains with much higher concentrations of THC. THC ruderalis can lift your spirits these days, especially modern hybrids.

This is a very good marijuana strain for beginner growers because it's hard to mess up and can produce a lot of buds. The buds are thick and sticky, and are usually covered in a lot of trichomes. Currently, you can find the most popular strains in autoflowering form.
