Ways to Accelerate Cannabis Growth

Ways to Accelerate Cannabis Growth

It has long been not news - the larger the size of the cannabis bush, the greater the yield. Growers from all over the world share their achievements and secrets. Consider proven methods to speed up the growth of marijuana.

It all starts with genetics

Some varieties require a longer flowering phase than others. Indica-dominant genetics, for example, bloom on average for about 45-60 days, and if the dominant Sativa genetics can bloom for 60-90 days! This is of great importance considering that the total flowering time can vary up to 45 days. For growers who want to grow their cannabis faster, strong Indica-dominated strains are a good option.

Growing indoors is almost always faster than growing outdoors, mainly because you can control the lighting, temperature, and humidity.

In general, autoflowering cannabis seeds mature faster than photoperiod strains because they contain a certain percentage of ruderalis genetics. Ruderalis naturally developed in cold places such as Siberia where summers are very short. They had to develop the ability to quickly produce flowers and seeds to ensure the survival of the species.

Most autoflowering hybrids start flowering two weeks after germination and can be harvested in about 7 weeks. Quick One, for example, completes its full life cycle in 8 weeks and still yields up to 150g per plant.

How to accelerate the maturation of photoperiod varieties

Photoperiod strains can be made to ripen almost as fast as autos by placing them in the dark for 12 hours each day from germination. It works! But your plants won't get as big and productive as if you let them vegetate for the usual 4-6 weeks. If you want to use this method, you can either start with clones or SOG-style seeds.

Growing clones

To go a long way from seed to bud, a plant needs to go a long way. But it can be shortened and taken from a cutting in the vegetative phase using vegetative propagation. Growing marijuana clones is a sure way to speed up the growing process. The cutting acts as a kind of mature seedling, ready to enter the vegetative stage. Although it may take some time for the cutting to take on new roots, this time is significantly shorter compared to the time it takes for the seed to germinate and complete the seedling phase. Growing clones indoors is an easy and quick alternative to germinating seeds every time. This method accelerates the development of cannabis.

Cloning autoflowering strains is not recommended because the cuttings retain the age of the host plant and will flower before they reach a suitable size.

Light time

This is a hotly debated topic, but you can leave the lights on 24/7 and your cannabis plants will be fine. Unlike some other plants, they don't need a dark period every day to be healthy. In fact, they will stay shorter, grow faster, and become denser with a continuous light period.

By keeping the lights on all the time, you can cut your vegetative time by a third and still have a good sized plant by the time you force-flower. With this technique, you need to carefully monitor the shortcomings! If the plants look like they are getting sick, the power or number of light hours is reduced to help them recover.

If you want to speed up the flowering process, plants are placed in total darkness for 48 hours before the 12/12 light cycle starts. Then apply a light cycle of 11/13 throughout flowering. The extra pruning will make the plants think that winter is fast approaching.

Starving a cannabis that wants to flower for 9-10 weeks to get an early harvest can negatively affect that same yield. cannabis seeds with a short maturation time, such as Honey Cream, are suitable for this method. It is a high yielding indica that takes only 6-7 weeks to complete its flowering cycle.

Marijuana Bloom Stimulator

Sick marijuana plants take time to recover, so every time the cannabis is overfed, not underfed, or top dressed incorrectly, the time to harvest increases. If you are using cannabis-specific nutrients, they should come with instructions on how much and when to use. Follow the instructions, but keep the mixture on the light side until you know if your plants are nutrient sensitive.

Cannabis needs more nitrogen (N) during the growing season and more phosphorus and potassium (P and K) during flowering. Giving too much nitrogen during flowering will slow down bud growth and result in lower yields for fluffier buds. This is the exact opposite of a good result.

Using different rooms

In the simplest case, permanent cultivation involves allocating one place for plants in the flowering stage and another for plants in the vegetative stage. At least two separate spaces are needed, as photoperiod marijuana strains require different lighting regimes and, ideally, different light spectrums, depending on what stage they are in. When the cannabis is ready to bloom, it is moved to the appropriate space prepared for it.
