Determine the speed of cannabis transition to flowering

When does hemp bloom? In nature, it blooms when daylight hours are reduced to 14 hours or less. Also, flowering is affected by the difference between day and night temperatures, air humidity. These changes indicate to cannabis that it needs to produce viable seeds. The shorter the daylight hours, the more hormones affect the plant.

Hemp goes through four flowering stages:

1. rapid growth,
2. formation of the first buds,
3. weight gain,
4. harvesting.

Many believe that cannabis should be gradually transitioned to flowering. That is, reduce the lighting time by 15 minutes a day until it is reduced to 14 hours. Fortunately, you can do without such difficulties. It doesn't matter when the cannabis blooms in nature, because indoors you can immediately change the lighting mode to 12/12 or even 10/14.

Choose a time for your cannabis to flower

Normally, growers switch cannabis to flowering from day 25 to day 45. It is difficult to give an exact date, because it is important to take into account the following factors:

• cannabis varieties,
• growbox dimensions,
• growing conditions,
• the desire to get a rich harvest.

It is recommended to transfer to flowering from the 25th to the 45th day only healthy plants. If the cannabis is suffering from stress or disease, you can change the lighting regime later. Then the cannabis will ripen in the most favorable conditions.

Sometimes hemp just "refuses" to start flowering. Here is a little hack for this case: you need to leave the plant for three days in complete darkness before changing the lighting mode. This will speed up the production of hormones in the plant. When the lighting returns, the cannabis will be ready to bloom.

It is better to choose the time for transferring cannabis to flowering individually, by eye. During this period, hemp increases in size by about three times. Therefore, outwardly it is easier to determine the right time to change the lighting mode.

Learn to distinguish bloom from pre-bloom

Some new growers don't know how to tell if their cannabis is flowering. They confuse this period with primrose. This is the name of the stage in the development of cannabis, when buds are formed on the bush, but there are no cones on the plant yet. This is not a dangerous mistake, but it makes it difficult to determine exactly when to pay extra close attention to the plant.

The pre-flowering continues until the moment when the sexual characteristics of the bush appear. In some cases it is two days, in others it is two weeks. As soon as dandelion inflorescences and buds appear on the bush, you need to check cannabis daily. It will soon form buds and start flowering.

Avoid Common Mistakes

Even knowing how to transfer cannabis to flowering, many make mistakes and prevent cannabis from developing normally. Here are some tips for this:

• Carefully study the passport of the selected variety

Not all plants bloom quickly. If your strain is slow to flower, you don't need to push it. Cannabis will not bloom ahead of time, and excessive measures can harm it.

• Study the composition of fertilizers

Overdose of fertilizers will prevent you from growing a healthy plant. It is recommended to make useful supplements in strictly specified proportions.
