Dutch Passion's Dutch Sidbank selected two strains to create the Brainstorm genotype: the Afghan-Thai hybrid Northern Lights #5, known for its potent sedative effects and medicinal properties, and the classic sativa Hayes, which has aromatic and cerebral properties and serves as the basis for many new hybrids.

The resulting indica strain is hardy, resinous, and fragrant, with an aroma that includes notes of expensive red tea, cypress, and dates.

Handling photoperiodic cannabis is not particularly difficult with some skill. In open ground, it can reach a height of 1.50-1.70m, while indoors it stays within 1.20m. The mother bushes of the brainstorm variety develop vigorously during the growing season, thanks to a strong and adaptive root system. They have the appearance and properties of a pure indica. Characteristic notes of peppermint appeared closer to the middle of flowering, indicating the presence of sativa genes that only a qualified connoisseur could detect. The variety was ready for harvest in mid to late September and excelled in protecting itself from weather problems and parasites, thanks to a thick layer of resin on large stakes decorated with crystals that filtered out harmful violet radiation from the sun.
