CheckoutIf you're an impatient grower who wants to reap a successful harvest as soon as possible, choose fast-growing cannabis varieties. Without any difficulty, you can evaluate the quality of the cones from such a plant within 2.5-3 months after sowing.
Features of fast-growing varieties
Fast-growing marijuana can be autoflowering or photoperiodic. Each of these types of plants goes through a period of vegetation and flowering in its development. For the former, the growing season lasts no more than 3 weeks, while fast-growing autoflowers bloom for no longer than 8 weeks.
For photoperiodic varieties, an important factor is the length of daylight hours, which must be constantly monitored and regulated so that the bush can move from vegetation to flowering in a timely manner. The length of the growing season depends on the place of sowing, growing conditions, temperature, and frequency of watering. Photoperiodic early ripening marijuana varieties are only suitable for experienced growers, while autoflowering varieties can be grown by beginners.
Advantages of early ripening varieties
Fast-growing cannabis seeds have the following advantages:
- Good genetics. Plants grow resistant to pests, diseases, and temperature fluctuations;
- compact size. The bush has a height of 60-100 cm. Such compact dimensions are suitable for growing indoors, and in the open air, they allow you to maintain confidentiality and conceal the location of the plantation;
- fast harvesting. By choosing autoflowers, you can get a harvest within 8–10 weeks after planting;
- unpretentiousness. Even beginners can grow fast-growing hemp, as it does not require special skills and expensive equipment.
Growing fast-growing hemp requires minimal resources. Growers use less fertilizer, electricity, and soil mixtures. These varieties are much more profitable to grow. They are ideal for climates with short summers and unstable weather conditions. The only drawback of fast-growing marijuana is its low yield. However, the entire crop is characterized by a bright, rich flavor and incredible effect.
How to choose a strain?
When a grower wants to get a fast, high-quality harvest, he or she needs to select the right marijuana strain. And in this case, the following question arises: indica or sativa - who is faster? Each of these species has its own advantages. For example, sativa loves a warm and humid climate, while indica grows better in dry, cool areas and is not afraid of frost. Sativa is more resistant to mold and fungus and produces a large harvest. But when it comes to ripening speed, the palm is still given to varieties with a turkey phenotype.
Having decided on the species, you need to choose a variety according to its characteristics, which must be indicated in its passport or description, namely
- bush size. The larger the bush, the more space it needs for a good harvest;
- growing conditions. You need to choose varieties for outdoor, indoor, or grow box cultivation;
- flavor. For confidential cultivation in conditions where there are nosy neighbors or poor ventilation, you need to select varieties with minimal aroma.
When you decide a fast-growing marijuana variety, you should know that such plants react negatively to stress. This means that they should not be transplanted or subjected to quality training or testing. It is recommended to grow such varieties using low-stress methods such as SCROG or SOG.
Due to their short growth period, it is not recommended to use technologies that increase yields. They will simply die after pruning or making. This is the main reason for the low yield of fast-growing varieties.
Which strain to choose?
Fast-growing cannabis varieties in Ukraine most often have an indica phenotype or are indica-dominant hybrids. They have a short flowering period and easily adapt to an unstable climate with a short period of heat. The most famous varieties include the following:
- Banff. This is a Canadian hybrid of resinous indica and elite Brazilian sativa. The variety has a high yield with a light fruity aroma. THC = 19-22%. Ripens in 3-4 months. You can get up to half a kilogram of yield from a plant;
- Afghanistan Light. One hundred percent indica, the genetic material for which is a classic Afghan with the addition of a secret strain. The aroma is woody and nutty. THC = 20-23%. In 3.5-4 months after planting, you can get up to a kilogram of fresh, fragrant harvest;
- Lowryder. This is the best autoflower that exists in modern growers. It can be harvested twice as fast as when cultivating photoperiodic varieties. THC = 18-20%. One plant can yield up to 400 grams of crop;
- AK-47. This is a hybrid of indica and sativa. The plant grows compact, has a branched structure and almost no leaves. The ripe bush is almost entirely covered with flowers. In 3 months after sowing, you can harvest up to 800 g of it.
Fast-growing marijuana varieties have different flavor profiles and effects. You can choose any of them to your liking, or experiment with new types.
