For the first time you can taste and study the genetics of local varieties from Bhutan, this mysterious and remote Himalayan country! White Bhutanese has been sourced from mother plants grown from premium seeds collected from the wild. These mother plants are completely authentic and unchanged since the seeds were collected in their natural environment. White Bhutanese is only one generation removed from its Himalayan source.
To simplify outdoor cultivation and offer a feminized variety, we crossed the mother plants with a carefully selected pollen donor. The main characteristics of the Bhutanese local variety were retained while improving and standardizing the quality of the flowering buds. This particular sativa variety comes from Wangdi province in Central Bhutan. It grows in a subtropical climate with cool winters at an altitude of 1300-2000 meters. Our White Bhutanese is a very versatile variety with high resistance to mildew. It can be grown in tropical and warm temperate climates up to 43° north latitude. Plants can withstand high temperatures and have been stress-tested up to 48°C in the greenhouse. Cultivators in regions with constant light periods or high humidity should especially consider growing this variety.
White Bhutanese is a classic tall sativa with long internodes, which should be considered when growing in containers or greenhouses. Late planting and pruning is essential if you don't have the space or resources to grow giant plants! In Mediterranean or hot climates, plants can reach 2.5 meters in containers if planted in June (in the northern hemisphere) and not pruned. If you want to limit the size of the plant, we recommend scheduling the planting season so that the growing season lasts only one month. During this period, a single pruning of the main shoot is sufficient. Excessive pruning can have a negative effect on the yield of the native sativa, especially when grown in containers. So don't get carried away with pruning to the point of bonsai! White Bhutanese responds well to the LST (low stress training) method, and once you learn to control its size, it will be easy to grow and unpretentious. Removing the lower shoots makes the plant easier to care for and strengthens the upper branches. White Bhutanese grows well in a good quality garden substrate, but when grown in containers it requires extra nutrition during the flowering period. Because of its vigor of growth, size and duration of flowering, the plant must receive adequate nutrients throughout its life cycle.
Bhutanese native varieties are extremely hardy and are not prone to hermaphroditism. Both maternal genetics and White Bhutanese have undergone stress tests and have shown high tolerance. Keeping the plants as healthy as possible will additionally ensure a safe and excellent harvest. Trichome production is impressive. But don't wait for them to turn amber! A transparent or slightly milky resin is the trademark of White Bhutanese. Plan your harvest according to the characteristics of the variety, the natural decline in bud development and of course the weather forecast. As harvest approaches, you will be able to enjoy an exotic variety of flavors. It can be a blend of spices, lemon, fruit, mint and nuts in various combinations. It took us a while to find the right comparison for this complex aroma. The closest was the aroma of typical Indian sweets such as mithai made from cashews, pistachios, cardamom and other spices. After drying and drying, this flavor matures into a unique bouquet that reflects the environment in which the plants grew, but the lemon and mint remain typical.
