Pamir Gold® by Dutch Passion—a legendary mountain hybrid with high cold tolerance and a mild, balanced effect
Pamir Gold® is a unique feminized photoperiod strain from Dutch Passion, developed from hardy Himalayan genetics adapted to the harsh conditions of the Swiss Alps. This hybrid combines natural resistance to cold, mold, and weather fluctuations with a pleasant fruity-spicy aroma, consistent yields, and a mild, functional effect. Thanks to its low-maintenance nature and high adaptability, Pamir Gold® is considered one of the best strains for growing in regions with short summers and cool fall weather.
Genetics and Origin
The history of Pamir Gold® began in the late 1990s, when Dutch Passion breeders were working to develop a strain capable of thriving in high-altitude climates.
The hybrid was based on the local Western Himalayas Hybrid—a landrace from the western Himalayas known for its natural resistance to cold weather, strong winds, and a short growing season. After several generations of breeding and acclimatization in the Swiss Alps, the most important traits were successfully established: stability, resistance to fungal diseases, compact flowering, and an improved flavor profile.
Today, Pamir Gold® is a stable hybrid with a predominance of Indica (60% Indica / 40% Sativa), exhibiting virtually no pronounced phenotypic variations.
Aroma and Flavor
Pamir Gold®’s terpene profile is built around a classic blend of myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene, resulting in a soft, rich, and natural aroma.
During flowering, the plants exude a sweet, fruity scent with notes of:
• ripe pear;
• juicy peach;
• fresh lemon;
• damp earth;
• aromatic herbs.
After curing, the aroma deepens and takes on distinctive woody and spicy nuances.
The flavor is smooth and harmonious: on the inhale, you’ll detect fruity tea, sweet garden fruits, and light citrus notes, while on the exhale, a classic peppery, herbal aftertaste with subtle earthy notes unfolds.
Plant Appearance
Pamir Gold® forms sturdy bushes with a classic hybrid structure. During the vegetative stage, the plants appear compact; however, when grown outdoors, they can stretch out noticeably, revealing the influence of sativa genetics.
Medium-length internodes ensure good canopy ventilation, which significantly reduces the risk of mold even in humid weather.
During flowering, dense, spear-shaped inflorescences of a light green color form, covered with numerous glassy trichomes. In cool nighttime temperatures, certain phenotypes may take on light purple hues, while simultaneously intensifying the fruity aroma.
The thick, fibrous stems easily withstand strong winds and generally do not require additional staking.
Growing Characteristics
The main advantage of Pamir Gold® is its exceptional tolerance to adverse growing conditions.
The flowering period lasts 7–9 weeks, and outdoor harvest typically occurs in early October.
Average plant height:
• 80–120 cm indoors;
• 150–180 cm outdoors.
This strain tolerates high humidity well; however, when grown indoors, it is recommended to maintain relative humidity at no more than 55% during the second half of the flowering period.
Pamir Gold® does not require intensive fertilization—moderate doses of fertilizer yield the best results. Excess nitrogen can lead to excessive plant stretching and less dense buds.
The plants respond well to topping, although their natural shape resembles a classic “Christmas tree” and is well-suited for growing without complex pruning.
Yield
Despite its origins in mountain landraces, Pamir Gold® demonstrates respectable productivity.
Average yields are:
• 350–400 g/m² indoors;
• 500–600 g per plant outdoors.
The strain reveals its greatest aromatic potential under natural sunlight, where UV exposure promotes more active terpene accumulation.
Effect
The THC content is 13–16%, with CBD levels around 0.2% and CBG up to 0.64%, resulting in a mild, comfortable, and functional high.
The effect begins with a mild mood boost and a sense of inner calm. This is followed by pleasant physical relaxation without pronounced drowsiness or a feeling of heaviness.
Pinene helps maintain mental clarity and focus, making Pamir Gold® ideal for daytime relaxation, walks, working outdoors, and laid-back socializing. It’s a good choice for beginners and those who prefer a moderate effect rather than a powerful sedative effect.
