Durban Poison is a great option if you want a well-known, traditional and popular strain with high yields that is easy to grow both indoors and outdoors. This strain is suitable for both experts and novice growers. When growing indoors, we recommend cutting off the tops or fresh foliage, as this will increase the growth rate of the side branches. The merits of the variety will be fully realized if you use growing methods such as LST, bending and folding the stems, and using a screen for the greens. This will result in a serious increase in yield. Also, when growing indoors, it's so much easier to adjust the height of the bushes. Take care that the roots have enough space. This will accelerate growth, which will eventually cause an increase in size and yield.
The Durban Poison variety has gained worldwide popularity because of its typical sativa effects. It promotes a strong mental uplift and a burst of energy. This variety is great for keeping you productive throughout the day when doing creative tasks. Your mood will improve, but you will still be able to interact with others without feeling shy or paranoid. Following the initial burst of energy, there may be a calmness if you use a lot of marijuana. Its effects last for a relatively long time.
If you are growing these plants indoors without height management techniques, we recommend a shorter growing season than most indica and hybrid varieties. Durban Poison can be very sprawling, and during the flowering period the bush size can increase 2-3 times. To get decent sized plants, a vegetative period of 3-4 weeks is sufficient. When several bushes grow on each square meter, the "screen for green" (SCROG) method is recommended.
In the first stages of growth, the leaves of the plant resemble indica. As it blooms, it and its leaves begin to look like a true sativa. When it is grown indoors, this transition from indica to sativa can be noticed by going on a lighting cycle with 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. And if it is grown outdoors, you have to wait for the time when the days start to get shorter. That's when the heredity of the dominant sativa, its true appearance, is revealed.
The flowering period lasts about 8-9 weeks. If you add the recommended length of the vegetative period, you get 11-13 weeks from sowing to harvest.
Durban Poison produces very large yields of high quality traditional marijuana: 450 to 650 grams per square meter. The buds grow heavy, resinous and dense.
